Day +88

It is Monday, 30th April. I can't believe it will be May tomorrow; full of bright sunshine, long days and blossom. We came here in cold, dark January. We've been here for 14 long weeks, but now it looks like we are finally going home! We are still working to this Friday, although we are aware that means letting us out over a bank holiday weekend. If things don't go to plan this week we'll wait till next Tuesday. I am beginning to get excited...Last night Jesse had his last meal of TPN (IV feeding). His overnight milk feed (oral) is up to 45ml per hour, tonight he will hit his target of 50ml per hour! We now have to see how he manages his electrolytes, and whether he will need supplements of potassium etc. I'll try to post regularly, so you get a picture of how it going.

We have had a mad week, Derek was at GOSH for three days, we did another swap over in the night on Saturday. The trains were so bad we both took the coach. I was just coming into London when my phone rang. "I think I just saw you!" Derek shouted excitedly..."Are you in Wallington?" I asked, and he was! That was the closest we have been for couple of weeks!

While Derek was here he was taught how to prepare all Jesse's medication, crushing the tablets and mixing with water. I will start learning today. On Wednesday our milk pump will be delivered to Brighton and someone from Brighton is coming here to teach me how to use it. So its all go, go, go.

While I was in Brighton, I did loads of sorting and rearranging, especially in Jesse's room. On Saturday Helen and I spent 6 hours cleaning the house from top to bottom, so now I feel happy about bringing Jesse home. It is spotless! The wonderful Helen will come in again on the day he is discharged so it will be doubly clean...must go as there is lots to do today, physio, lesson, medicines etc...Keep in touch, sorry to be such a rubbish blogger.
lots and lots and lots of love,
Claudia

PS Scooby says "AAUW, AAUW, AAUW!" Jesse wanted him to have his say on the blog today.

Darling All of you, What exciting news! But you know what I'm going to say: don't wear yourselves to a frazzle otherwise you won't be any use to anyone. It's an amzing time of year and it will be lovely to have Jesse out in it letting the sunshine help to heal him (as his great geat grandfather knew). Lots of love to everyone who has helped you along the way. (Don't be apologetic about blogs, we'll still know that all's well if we don't hear from you). Ken and Rosalind XXXXXXX

Hi All,
So sorry not to have been in touch for a while - I'm working in Dubai at the moment, but still logging on to see how things are going. What wonderful news that you'll soon be going home - it'll do you alll so much good to be together again!
And how exciting to meet Tony Robinson - we're about to have a new room built on the back of our house, and we've discovered that there are Roman Ruins in our garden, so perhaps we should invite him over to dig them up!

Lots and Lots of love,

Simon (and Rachael and Mollie!!!) xxx

So, ordered the fork lift truck yet to take all your medals and stuff home?

"AAUW, AAUW, AAUW!" <---- wonders if its worth asking Lily's translation service to interpret?

Joke time then:

Sad Girl What do you get when you cross a poodle with a chicken?
Happy Girl Pooched eggs!
(that one made me wonder about Poochiella - any news?).

Q: What do you get if you cross a sheepdog with a rose?
A: A collie-flower!

Q: What do dogs have that no other animal has?
A: Puppy dogs!

Q: Why don't dogs make good dancers?
A: Because they have two left feet!

Q: What do you get if you cross a dog and a cheetah?
A: A dog that chases cars - and catches them!

Wow, you're doing so well! All of you! Such fabulous, fantastic news. I was hoping to pop and see you this week but then I got a flu thing so couldn't go to work and definately knew I couldn't visit you or your mum. Hopefully the next time I see you might be in Brighton, but if you're still in London next week and if I'm germ free then maybe I can take you out for a lunch time adventure? Olly wants to know if Bernie can walk around with a rubbish bin on his head yet, as that's Olly's favourite game and he'd love to have someone to share it with! Lots of love - Katie, Ted and Olly
