Day +6

Another short post from me as there isn't much to tell. Apart from the great news that Jesse wasn't sick today! That may be because he's almost stopped eating and drinking (150ml fluid by mouth and three more tiny Green & Blacks chocolates) apart from his milk feed through his PEG. He has spent a lot of today sleeping. All his counts are dropping, still no white cells at all, his hb is 9.2 (pretty good for him but nearly one point lower than yesterday) and his platelets plummeted from 77 yesterday to 47. No wonder he is feeling wiped out! His mouth is still fine. I was talking to our nurse, the lovely Lenka, and she said he is doing really well. They don't expect them to eat or drink at this point. Many of the kids and babies are on a drip for fluid and TPN (an intravenous way of feeding) by now.

Derek and I have both have had very slightly froggy throats so we have been popping vitamins by the hundreds, I think my throat feels fine tonight. It is very easy to get paranoid and confused about one's health when being well is so important! Anyway, that's all folks, I'm shattered so am off to my plastic covered tiny mattress! Sweet dreams to you, keep in touch. I haven't read the latest comments to Jesse as he hasn't been very receptive for the past couple of days (although he adored Basil Brush today), I'll have a session with him tomorrow. Thank you all so much for your care and kind thoughts!
love

Hey mate,

Brighton's very boring when you're not here, though two exciting things have happened recently. The first was when Kippeur's cousin came over to visit yesterday, from France. Turns out he's a noodle poodle. He asked me to cook a big plate of noodles so that he could sit in them. What a wierdo! I'll send you a photo.

The other exciting thing was the appearance of another dog in real armour. I didn't even know dog armour existed! I'm sending you a photo of that as well...

Lots of love,

Lily xxx

Gosh what is the world coming too? Dogs in armour - whatever next?
As for noodlepoodles ,Lily, did he just sit in them or eat some as well. Mind you, I do agree that lady dogs wd look better with pink hair.

Q: If a rooster lays an egg on the middle of a slanted roof, on which side will it fall?

A: Neither side. Roosters don't lay eggs!

Positive thoughts to all of you
Gaby

Hi Jesse, hope you having a better day - you must be as so much love and well-wishing travelling in from everyone to you. I was just remembering when Derek was about your age and he wasnt very well - I was looking after him and gave him tomato soup and soldiers for lunch which he enjoyed and ate then promptly threw it all up again all in his mums bed!! Ho-hum. I also remember ALL the Famous Five books I have read them ALL ( a long time ago ) Dick, Julian, Ann, George and ...and... I cant remember any more oh yes Aunt Fanny and wicked Uncle Quentin - is that right? And Timmy the dog. Do you think Kipper knows him? If he does it must have been him that taught Kipper how to go off exploring. At least Kipper goes all around the world and not just Dorset!!! Ive been swimming with dolphins in Mexico and turtles in Barbados and even paddled in the warm shallows in Cuba - but I enjoyed the day we went to Brighton Aquarium - do you remember? Then we played with all the stones on the beach-lovely! It will soon be warm sunny days again when you can play, so keep getting better eh? Keep up the good work Mummy and Daddy and well done the"Walking Bernie" Love from Jenny and Phil.x

Heya Jesse
Can't believe i haven't commented before. Stan sent me the link to this about 2 hours ago, and ive sat here and read it all. Fred wants to tell you he thinks your really brave, and finds all this talk of half dog half ducks really funny. As do i of course.

It sounds like its going really well, and i hope you know we're all thinking of you guys loads down here. I'm planning on venturing up to brighton on saturday to hang out with stan for a day, and i might pop in and say hi to lily and albie too.

I've also got another appointment in GOSH soon, im not sure when, but i'll let you know, im sure mum would want to take you out for coffee if we're there when you are, Claudia.

But lots of love, hope Bernie gets better soon!

Hi Jesse,

You haven't met us, but we've heard lots about you from John & Venetia and we think you are an absolute champion.

"We" are Anna, Dan and Zak (6 weeks old) and I (Anna) am Venetia's cousin from New Zealand, although I have been in England now for nearly nine years.

I'm not very good at jokes, but here's one that I though was funny! Dan's little cousin told me the other day that when he was in Croatia on holiday he had taken a photo of some Croatian fish. I asked how did he know that they were Croatian fish and not fish on holiday from France. That got him stumped.

We hope to meet you soon. Dan grew up in Brighton and would love to go back to visit.

Lots of love,

Anna, Dan & Zak
